Dust Devils: Symphony of Extension 1998 for Bass Clarinet with Electronic Extensions
Composed and Performed by Daniel Harris
Recorded Live in Nice, France at Festival MANCA 1998
As with all my work with "live electronics," there are no sequences or pre-recorded materials. All sounds are made or initiated by the bass clarinet. A Fairlight Voice Tracker with proprietary firmware, a MAX program and a Kurzweil 2500 are the hardware and software used. The music is improvised from a score that only indicates the structural outlines and motifs. The resultant composition is literally "baked in front of your ears."
